bruce britton.JPGThank you for visiting the website for the EVMS MD Alumni Association.  We hope that you will do so often.  Our goal is to provide opportunities to keep you connected to EVMS, to share with you the latest campus news and to be a voice for you.  EVMS celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year. Today’s EVMS is a dynamic and exciting place and we want you to be a part of it.

The first step in getting involved with the EVMS Alumni Association is creating a profile on the website.   We would appreciate your providing us your most current email address, home address and phone numbers.  You will then learn about ways you can be engaged with the students and school that made a commitment to you some time ago.  You can help current students by teaching, mentoring, participating in the admissions interview process, donating to the Alumni Scholarship fund or EVMS general fund.  Or you could serve as a Class Representative in the Alumni Association.  By providing this profile, you can be kept abreast of the exciting and innovative changes at EVMS, such as the new Education and Research Building, the high tech simulations used for patient and procedure education and the new Global and Community oriented health care initiatives that EVMS students participate in.

Or course, being EVMS alumni brings invitations to various social events on and off campus.  This year’s Commencement, and the addition of 200+ new alumni, is Saturday, May 18, 2013. The Annual MD Alumni Reunion weekend, an ongoing tradition not to be missed, will be held on October 18-20, 2013.  New educational and social events appear regularly, such as the introduction of handheld ultrasound to community faculty and the White Coat Retirement Ceremony for graduating students, so check the website often.

Finally, whether you live in Hampton Roads or far away, we invite you to come back to campus.  See the Education and Research Building, tour the Simulation Center and meet with your former teachers.  The success of EVMS depends upon the community created by its former, current and future students. As physician alumni, we value highly your participation in this community.

On behalf of your alumni board, welcome back.
